Anas platyrhynchos domesticus
November 15, 2016
This exquisite duck is a the fastest of all running Anatidae. They were once often seen competing in sprints along the river Ganges but now due to their bashful and lackadaisical nature they are primarily only found walking at a sluggish pace in muddy enclaves. Only females quack and drakes are limited to a hoarse whisper, which is quite strange considering they are a duck. This very functional bronze door stop shows the unmistakable pigment markings unique to the breed.
