About Rob

Australian by birth, Rob has traveled extensively, being inspired by the glory that is functional art. He specialises in the forgotten sculpture of paper weights door stops and tooth pick holders. Claiming that although the recipient of such gifts may not appreciate the complexity of their true artistic meaning, they will surely find happiness in an open door, stagnant paper and clean teeth.

He found his passion in an unlikely place – an old bronze boat propeller found in his fathers shed. This functional device had long lost its purpose and Rob dreamt of the day that this inanimate object could once again contribute to society. This thirst for functionality drove him to source his materials from all over the world and start his own warm climate shed in Sanur.

Today, Rob’s collections are bringing ironic delight to all who get the chance to pick up one of his impractically heavy but functionally astute pieces of art.
